Application
SAB/SAPB is used as a mild amphoteric surfactant in personal care products such as shampoos and facial cleansers.
1. Personal Care Products
Stearamidopropyl Betaine is widely used in shampoos, body washes, facial cleansers, baby products, and hair conditioners as a mild amphoteric surfactant. It provides excellent conditioning and antistatic effects, leaving hair and skin feeling soft and smooth. The ingredient also acts as a foam booster and stabilizer, producing rich and creamy lather. Additionally, it effectively reduces the irritation and harshness caused by anionic surfactants such as SLS and SLES.
2. Household & Industrial Cleaning
Stearamidopropyl Betaine serves as an effective additive in liquid detergents, hand soaps, automatic dishwashing formulations, and industrial cleaning agents. It enhances foam volume and foam stability, even in the presence of oils and soils. When co-formulated with anionic surfactants, it improves viscosity and provides a thicker, more appealing product consistency. The ingredient also offers good lime soap dispersing ability, preventing soap scum formation in hard water conditions. Furthermore, it is readily biodegradable, making it an environmentally friendly choice for green cleaning products.
3. Metal Surface Treatment
Stearamidopropyl Betaine functions as a surfactant additive in metal cleaning formulations, where it assists in degreasing and soil removal processes. It provides wetting, emulsifying, and dispersing properties that help lift oils and particulate soils from metal surfaces. The ingredient is compatible with both acidic and alkaline cleaning systems due to its amphoteric nature. It is commonly used in industrial parts washing, automotive cleaning, and general metal pretreatment baths. However, it is not classified as a dedicated degreaser, rust-proofing agent, or phosphating agent, but rather as a supporting surfactant that enhances overall cleaning efficiency.
